All you need to know about Stalon silencers — selection, care, installation and legalities. Click a question to reveal the answer.
One of our most common questions is about choosing the right silencer. It’s a question with a complex answer, only because it’s extremely individual.
Before you buy yourself your first - or a new - silencer you should ask yourself a couple of questions. First of all, what is the purpose of the silencer? Is it for noise reduction- or to reduce barrel flips and recoil?
Next, you need to contemplate if size and weight matter. A silencer can (to a varying extent depending on the manufacturer) affect the whole equipment. If you walk with a dog or move a lot you will probably like a light and slim silencer. You also need to consider how much sound reduction you want.
Beyond this, you need to outweigh what type of hunting you are going to use your silencer for. What do you like the most? And of course, you need to find a silencer that works with your rifle. What caliber and threads are required?
Condensation forms inside the silencer when using/shooting. Water and /or moisture inside the silencer contains ammonia and other caustic substances which must be dried out when not in use or before storing. Failure in following the care and maintenance instructions can cause water/moisture damages and will compromise the warranty of the product.
Care and maintenance instructions:
1. Always detach the silence when not in use.
2. Dry out the silencer if wet or moist inside. Use a heater, compressed air, hair drier, fan or similar until it is completely dry.
3. Spray the inside of the silencer carefully for approximately 1 second in total with a light oil, WD-40 or other similar oil.
4. Apply grease, preferably Stalon silencer grease to the thread, and in some models, in the split section of the silencer.
5. Store the silencer vertically (standing) with the front-end pointing down in a dry well-ventilated place (laws and regulations may force you to store it in a weapon safe).
It is not necessary to clean a Stalon silencer with any third-party cleaning substance or liquids, but can be used if necessary. A gun-cleaning brass brush can be used to brush of gunpowder residue or white ammonia crystals visible in the bore (hole) of the silencer. Do not use any highly-or extremely flammable liquids or other strong liquids and /or materials to clean the silencer.
A silencer reduces the high decibel levels that occur when a shot is fired. It also reduces recoil, muzzle rise, and muzzle flash, contributing to a safer and more ethical hunt. A Stalon silencer increases accuracy and makes you, as a shooter, more confident. It also improves the weapon's performance and is a fantastic tool for both hunting and shooting. Thanks to Stalon silencers' advanced technology and accurate sound level measurements, it delivers an outstanding hunting experience.
Initial fitting and installation of a Stalon silencer and Stalon accessories should be performed out by an experienced or professional individual or gunsmith.
Always ensure that the caliber on the weapon is equal to or smaller than the one for which the product is made to fit.
Never install any third-party accessory, add-on or similar product. Only original Stalon accessories are allowed to be installed on the silencer.
The silencer should only be used on models that it is designed for. Use on other firearms is not recommended.
Before installing the silencer, make sure that the thread is in line with our recommendations. A correctly-installed Stalon silencer increases the accuracy; however, it is not uncommon for the point of impact to change depending on whether or not a silencer is attached. The change in the point of impact is, however, consistent on that model. The model with a silencer attached must therefore be fired to check for possible changes. Some Stalon silencers come with a barrel support on the rear. The barrel support adds another support point to keep the equipment aligned to each other. In most cases, the barrel support should be adjusted to the barrel, with a free-floating distance of 0.5–0.7 mm larger than the diameter of the barrel.
Only dismantle, detach, attach, or handle the silencer after making sure that the firearm is unloaded.
Make sure that the silencer is undamaged and correctly installed before use. DO NOT operate your silencer under any circumstances if it is damaged or not properly installed on the weapon. Doing so may result in your warranty being voided.
All attaching or detaching of a Stalon silencer is done by hand only, no tools are needed.
Always follow the care- and maintenance instructions in our user manual.
Always ensure that the silencer is firmly attached to the weapon before using it. If the thread on the weapon is lubricated with Stalon silencer grease and has the right tolerance, the silencer should be easy to firmly attach. If not, please consult a gunsmith. The silencer should never be fired above our recommended temperature limit of 250°C. Exceeding the limit may result in failure and lead to personal injury and/or property damage.
Be aware that magnum calibers, short-barreled weapons, high pressure loads or a combination of any of these things generates significantly higher temperatures per shot than standard calibers, barrels, and loads.
A silencer has many profits, especially for noise reduction. Noise affects both hunters and their surroundings - including dogs. The by far most common reason to get a silencer is to reduce the sound levels when hunting to protect your own hearing but also the surroundings. The reduced recoil also makes you a safer shooter with better precision and a faster way to an eventual second shot. When hunting in darkness it’s easy to get dazzled by muzzle flash, but a Stalon silencer is developed to reduce this as much as possible. To sum up - a silencer will give you a better hunting experience because of noise-, recoil-, and muzzle flash reduction. It will make hunting safer and definitely more fun.
Unfortunately not. We recommend you contact your closest dealer, they will help you get your Stalon silencer.
One of the most common reasons for buying a silencer is because of the reduced recoil. Depending on model and caliber, a Stalon silencer reduces recoil by about 40-50%.
A correctly-installed Stalon silencer increases the accuracy; however, it is not uncommon for the point of impact to change depending on whether or not a silencer is attached. The change in the point of impact is, however, consistent on that model. The weapon with a silencer attached must therefore be fired to check for possible changes.
A silencer is a tool that enhances the experience of hunting and shooting through its remarkable features. In addition to reducing the noise from gunfire, it also reduces recoil, muzzle rise, and muzzle flash, which is particularly beneficial in low-light hunting conditions. A silencer is mounted directly onto the firearm without the need for tools, and depending on the model you choose, it will affect performance in various ways. Silencers come in different weights and lengths, and many models that significantly reduce sound tend to be both heavy and unnecessarily extend the length of the firearm. However, a Stalon silencer is both lightweight and minimally extends the firearm while still reducing noise levels by up to 34 decibels.
Silencers are also made from different materials that affect their performance, with a Stalon silencer made from high-quality aluminum offering a lighter option that is perfect for regular hunting.
Stalon silencers are available in a variety of models, including 1/2-20 UNF, 1/2-28 UNEF, 5/8-18 UNF, 5/8-24 UNEF, M12x1, M13x1, M14x1, M14x1.5, M15x1, M15x1.5, M16x1, M17x1, and M18x1. The components inside the silencers are treated with a process called anodizing, which provides an extremely durable and easy-to-maintain surface. This also protects the internal material of the silencer, which is exposed to a highly corrosive environment. The baffles inside the silencer are subjected to extremely high temperatures, but thanks to the stainless steel reinforcements, the lifespan is significantly extended. All Stalon silencers are threaded internally, and the baffles are screwed into the tubes and secured with extremely heat-resistant adhesive.
Every silencer matches different models and calibers. For example, more powerful calibers need a silencer with great volume, which all silencers aren’t. In our product guide, you can find out which Stalon silencer matches your gun.
The Stalon silencer that reduces most noise is Stalon XE149 with its incredible 34,5 dBc (.308). We recommend XE149 for spot and stalk, where the silencer's performance is the primary demand.
